Answer Three Questions to Find Out!
Finding a Realtor Does Not Have to Be Daunting
The prospect of finding a Realtor today, especially for new home seekers, can be daunting. With so many options and an overload of opinions found online, it can often feel like a game of roulette. How do you navigate the information overload? Where do you even start?
We recommend you begin by asking yourself these few questions:
1. Who am I, and what are my needs?
Are you a first-time buyer and newly-wed (congratulations!), a current homeowner in distress, a current homeowner who must relocate, a single father or single mother, or an investor? If you yourself know your own market, you can better seek out the realtor who can meet your specific needs.
At Life Changes Realty, we group our client’s in the following way:
- LAUNCHERS: AKA First Time Homebuyers
- FRESH STARTERS: Just Marrieds
- EXPANDERS: New babies, extended family accommodations, need more SPACE
- CHANGERS: Life happens – Divorce, Job Changes, Financial Change, Medical Changes, Relocators
- COASTERS: Downsizers, Second home buyers, Vacation Homes
- GOLDEN AGERS:Seniors, Generationals, Boomers
- INVESTORS: Portfolio Builders, Flippers, Landlords
- EXECUTORS: Estates
When finding a Realtor, after you have outlined your needs, also ask yourself:
2. What type of person/company will understand and work with my needs, from start to finish?
Large realty companies often appear or taut having capabilities for expansive networking and a bureaucracy that attempts to ensure you receive systematic services. Many large Brokers have begun their own mortgage/closing companies and other affiliated companies, which, although intricately entwined with their own Realtors and services, do not always work in the best interest of the client. At times, this costs the client extra fees, adds unnecessary extras, and does not always provide the best possible service or program out there for the client. Ask around and you find that at the end of the day, it is not really the realty company that matters, but rather the individual with whom you will embark on your journey – their personal networking, knowledge, integrity, and drive to provide the best program that fits you and your current life changing situation!
3. Does my real estate agent have the credentials in addition to the personality and home experience with which I can relate?
It would be naive to claim that the cultivation of a relationship alone is enough to ‘win’ at realty– the credentials must be there too. You will find that Naomi Fredlund and her Life Change’s Realty team have both the business credentials and the local know-how which can only come from living and community involvement in South Central Pennsylvania.
Naomi herself, Life Changes Realty Group’s founder, honed her negotiation and business skills through years as a high producing sales agent and manager/VP at a large brokerage, and through her corporate background in commercial sales, mergers, and acquisitions. She combines that with her creativity to create and advance the unique agent-client centered collaborative culture at Life Changes Realty Group. She builds a team of top notch agents who truly care about what is best for their clients.
