Pay it Forward
2018 marks our 5 year business birthday and it’s no secret that we, at Life Changes Realty Group, have a passion for giving back. As of July 2018, our Pay it Forward Program has donated over $300,000 to multiple organizations and causes in celebration of the closings of our buyers and sellers.
One of the great organizations we have gotten to know and love is Brittany’s Hope, a local Elizabethtown non-profit dedicated to aiding abandoned children around the world. We will be joining Brittany’s Hope, along with many others in the community on September 15, 2018 at their Cross Country 5K Walk of Love.
Though Pay it Forward has, traditionally, been a local project, we now have a unique opportunity to expand our Open Hearts, Open Doors, Welcome Home, beyond our local limits and help a family in dire need of safe housing. We are asking the friends and clients of Life Changes Realty Group to come together, celebrate our 5 years, and help us change the lives of the Nguyen family in Viet Nam. Help us build a home!
Lieu’s Story
Lieu, born in 1991, married Thuong and had 2 children, a girl and a boy. They live in Cam Ranh, Viet Nam. Life was not easy for this young couple from a minority ethnic group. Mr Thuong had several health issues and because of his financial circumstances, did not receive the medical care he needed. After 15 months of illness and depression, he took his own life in the same house where his family lived.
Mrs. Lieu, now 27 years old, serves as both the father and mother of her daughter and son, while working to keep a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs.
She takes this responsibility on with all she has. Each day, she takes care of her children, making sure they get to school, and transporting them on an old bicycle. To make sure they can have things that they need, Mrs. Lieu breaks corn or picks cashew nuts for a meek pay. This income is not enough to cover their living expenses.
Her daughter, Nhouc, is in the 3rd grade and is very studious. She is learning well and has been awarded as an excellent student in 3 academic years. Her son, Duy, is in the first grade. He tries but is not doing as well in school as his sister. Ms. Lieu wishes she could teach Duy but her knowledge is limited.
They currently live in a 12 meter wide by 15 meter long clay house. This house is not safe when it rains heavily with strong winds. There is a fear that the family will be crushed if the house collapses because of the weather. When it rains heavily the house floods, making their clothes wet and the clay stove not able to cook rice.
Lieu thought her life would be better when she married her husband, however, his sudden death dashed her hopes. When looking at her children sitting in the cold, she often feels discouraged and sad. Leiu says, “all I want in life now is a stable and safe home where I can raise them and hope the best for them.”
Our Goal
Our 5 year birthday celebration goal is, with the support and help of our friends and clients, to Pay it Forward (all the way to Viet Nam) to give Lieu and her children a safe, stable and comfortable home and furnishings, so she can focus her energy on earning a living, taking care of her children, keeping them in school, and have hope for a future.
